Be obese and you´ll blend in. No offense here, just statistics. Tonga was rated world´s fattest country, with 9/10 of adults being overweight or obese. The previous king of Tonga (he is dead for a few years now) was, with his 209 kgs, the heaviest monarch on Earth.

When the 6ft 4in king attended the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer in 1981, he needed two seats to accommodate his massive bulk.

No wonder the obesity, most of what Tongans eat comes in cans and plastic wrappings - basically all food but the fruit. I say, you can live on the fruit and nothing else - at least I did there. Never before I picked my own papaya right from the tree, ate 4 different kinds banana, had raw fish in coconut milk with banana fries. Coconuts are the best, though. They can keep you alive - you can drink it and eat it- but they can kill you too. Coconuts falling from the trees kill about 150 people a year worldwide, that´s no joke. Also, guess why all cars in Tonga have cracked windscreens.

Do not stand or park your car under a coconut tree!
